n this modern world, electricity often remains misunderstood. To many it is a mystery, a magical “thing” that comes out of the wall socket. And because the energy itself is invisible, sockets, open wires and broken junctions don’t initially look dangerous at all to the uninformed.
For this reason electricity is often the culprit in child injuries. Indeed it can be life threatening in some circumstances.
Children love to explore, poke and prod and this can mean putting fingers, mouths, and objects into electrical sockets, biting cords and accidentally mixing water with electricity.
Electricity is everywhere around us and we feel its important that children gain a healthy understanding and respect for this essential resource.
• Electricity is useful and helps us everyday.
• But electricity in the wrong place is dangerous and can hurt us.
• Electricity in INVISIBLE – You cannot see it.
• Do not play with electrical plugs and cables.
